Clinical Documentation Specialist Certification
In response to industry demand, Clinical Documentation Improvement Australia has developed CDIA Clinical Documentation Specialist (CDS) certification (CCDS). This certification has been developed as an industry certification with the CDS achieving key milestones to support career progression as a CDS.
Those who achieve CCDS possess expertise in the relevant Australian Coding Standards (ACS) applicable to the CDS role, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and pathophysiology; are proficient in undertaking concurrent reviews of the inpatient medical record, engaging clinicians, ethical query writing, managing data and reporting on the impact of a CDI program.
Proficiency in the basics of the role of a CDS, specific criteria must be met.
Further proficiency in more advanced aspects of the role including advanced reporting and presenting data.
Demonstrates advanced knowledge of CDI, leadership and professional development.
